May 26, Monday (May, 2025)
- Breakfast with the Fischers
- Drive to Appalachian Trail where boardwalk is – lots of other people there on public holiday and beautiful weather
- Walk along the trail and go all the way to the main road – then I walk back alone at twice the pace to get the car – chat with thru hikers that I pass and some other hikers – really lifts my spirits with all the things considered
- Drive around to the farm where the Fischers are – chat with the thru hikers a bit more
- Go to Bellvale Creamery for ice cream again
- Stop at grocery store for some breakfast stuff
- Drive to NJ highest point – Miriam asks if the AT crosses here just as we drive by a road crossing – park charges $20 so we skip that
- Find a nearby AT shelter that is close to the road, so we go there for them to see what that’s like
- Pick up wine and pizza slices to bring back to lodge
- After eating rest a bit and then play yatzee until time for bed
